Hongkong, 25th. August, 1903.
With reference to Your Excellency's letter
of the 31st. December last and previous aid subsequent corres-
pondence regarding the proposed use of the Peninsula between Long Harbour and Jones's Cove as a Naval Rifle Range, I have
the honour to inform Your Excellency that the Colonial Govern-
ment is prepared to hand over to the Admiralty so much of the
Peninsula in question as may be required for a Rifle Range in
exchange for the Naval and Association Range at Kowloon which
as you are aware must be removed to provide for the laying out
of the King's Park. There is a certain amount of private pro-
perty on the Peninsula but the Colonial Government is ready to
resume it, if it is found necessary, free of cost to the Admi-
ralty. I have to request Your Excellency to be good enough to
inform me whether this proposal meets with your approval.
